CALL FOR ARTISTS : 30th MINIARTEXTIL COMO

The ARTE&ARTE Cultural Association is organising the 30th edition of the MINIARTEXTIL International Fibre Art Exhibition. The exhibition will be inaugurated in Como on Saturday, 26th September until Sunday, 22nd November 2020. The international tour will follow in 2021, starting from the Montrouge Paris exhibition venue and continuing to other destinations.
The exhibition venues will include the Antonio Ratti cultural space – the former Church of San Francesco, the former Church of San Pietro in Atrio, the Pinacoteca Civica, the Palazzo del Broletto and the Silk Museum. All exhibition venues are located within Como city centre.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
This call is open to artists and designers who wish to enter a work of fibre art made with textile techniques and/or materials. The aim of the exhibition is to promote and disseminate fibre art as an expressive means of contemporary art, highlighting its techniques and methods of realisation.
The work must adhere to the following definition: original work made by hand or, where the technique is controlled by the artist, executed using textile materials or techniques; it may be two or three dimensional. The dimensions of the work must be exactly 20x20x20 centimetres. The use of a passe partout is prohibited. The work is not intended to be hung or suspended from a frame, and must not require a connection to mains electricity.

Admission of works to the exhibition is subject to an incontestable selection by an international jury, directly nominated by the ARTE&ARTE Cultural Association, which will meet in May 2020 and which, besides selecting the 54 pieces that will subsequently be exhibited, will also confer the annual ARTE&ARTE AWARD.
In addition, some of the selected works may be exhibited in the exhibition’s important side events currently being organised, or in other important institutional locations. These projects are currently being considered by the organisers and curators: interested artists will be promptly informed.
